About us

Tina Tully

Co-founder of Ómra and Community Development enthusiast

Having grown up on a small farm in Ireland in the ‘70s and ‘80s and witnessing first-hand the effects of large-scale emigration all around me, I came firmly to a belief in the values of self-help and self-determination, local empowerment and enterprise.

With a B.A. in Sociology and Irish from Trinity College Dublin, I progressed to qualifying with a Masters in Community Development from NUI Galway, which has provided me with a base for my work since then in the community and voluntary sector.

I love all of that work and am often humbled by the resourcefulness, creativity, resilience and generosity of the people whom I am honoured to work with and for. Through my work with my business partner, Catherine McIntyre, I bring to you very strong facilitation, training and planning skills together with a vast knowledge of organisational development, governance and employment.

My experience of life in a border county has helped me to understand the devastating effects of conflict and the critical importance of conflict resolution. To that end, I am an accredited mediator with the Mediator’s Institute of Ireland and I use my mediation skills in a variety of organisational and community contexts.

Now living with my family, which includes two young children and many rescue animals in a very rural area, I continue to believe passionately in community development and participation and in a spirit of enterprise and hope for the future.

Catherine McIntyre

Experienced Collaborator & Co-founder of Ómra

I am a mother of three, wife of one and sister of many. I am an engaged citizen and a loyal friend. I am also a proud co-owner of a small business.

At this stage in my life’s journey, I have understood how I wish to spend time and who I want to serve: I am a passionate supporter and collaborator, with my business partner Tina Tully, of organisations which serve children, families and communities. I want to see these organisations thrive in the long-term, and this is for the betterment of Irish society too.

My business background in retail management gave me practical foundations in running an organisation. A return to full-time adult education in pursuits of a BA in Community Development (NUI Maynooth, 2008) and MA in Family Support (NUI Galway, 2015) means I’m up-to-date in how best to manage holistic community interests.

I have discovered that ongoing investment in my professional development keeps me engaged and challenged (e.g. Certified Mediator, MII 2021) and that this directly benefits my clients.

Community organisations don’t need to be ‘told what to do’ by outside partners. Rather, as a collaborator, I believe my role is to be there, getting familiar with the nitty-gritty, using my experience in the sector, fresh perspectives and authentic energy, to co-create the best route forward.

Ómra is my vocation. It is a privilege to work hard for our clients, every single day.
